Jean-François Marquaire is the Managing Partner of the Moscow office of CMS, and a partner in CMS’ Corporate team. His practice focuses primarily on mergers and acquisitions, corporate reorganisations, project financing, infrastructure and construction projects.
Jean-François has over 20 years' experience as executive officer with various companies in France, Europe and North America. He has participated in large projects, particularly in the oil and gas sector, with the responsibility of coordinating all tax and legal aspects of these transactions, including structuring and negotiating the required legal documentation. He has also directed and coordinated all aspects of major acquisitions, divestitures, business combinations and reorganisations that involved structuring, preparing and negotiating numerous agreements as well as coordinating the efforts of large working groups.
His recent experience includes advising foreign investors in relation to the establishment of a presence and the launch of their operations in the Russian Federation (notably from a corporate, tax, contract, financial and employment law perspective). He has been assisting leading French and international companies with corporate transactions and participated in M&A and investment projects for such clients, including infrastructure and construction projects. In addition, he advises major Russian companies on an on-going basis in relation to their investments in Europe particularly in France.
Jean-François holds an LL.B. in Business Law from Paris II and gained an LL.M. in Business Law and an LL.M. in International Law from the University of Aix-Marseille III. He has also taken part in INSEAD's Finance for Executives Programme and the HEC School of Management's CESA Executive Human Resources Programme. He is fluent in English and has working knowledge of Russian. |
