CMS: The Alliance of Major Independent European Law Firms Focusing on a Thorough Understanding of your Business
The CMS alliance is the spearhead of CMS Bureau Francis Lefebvre's international dimension. The alliance, an original form of the concept, is comprised of 9 European law firms providing excellent national expertise and operating out of 48 business centres in 23 countries. Mainly based in Europe, these offices also hold strong positions in Central and Eastern European countries, North Africa, North and South America, and Asia.
Structured Organisation
The firms forming the alliance are operationally integrated and offer a thorough understanding of their respective national laws, culture and business practices. The alliance presently has more than 2,000 lawyers, including 575 partners, throughout the world. It is directed by an Executive Committee comprised of the member firms' senior partners. An Executive Partner is responsible for running the administration in Brussels, supported by functional departments specialising in finance, IT and marketing.
Focusing on Four Core Areas
The overall organisation, geared towards providing quality and added value service, focuses on four core areas:
-
A single point of contact dedicated to ensuring quality service, dealing with conflicts of interest and billing matters
-
Objective of understanding all aspects of your business over and beyond purely legal and taxation issues
-
Combined training and inter-firm secondment programmes for lawyers organised by the firms
-
Organisation of working groups by legal practice area (Practice Area Groups - PAGs) and industry sector (Industry Focus Groups - IFGs), whose lawyers share expertise and experience
